Leaf Tea Shop and Bar
An Itchy review of Leaf Tea Shop and Bar, a lovely place in Liverpool serving exotic tea, alcohol and cheap and delicious food.
Review
Whether you are a tea enthusiast or not, Leaf has something for you. Be warned though, with hundreds of flavoured teas to choose from, it is tempting to run away screaming, until someone has the good sense to placate you with a familiar cup of PG tips. Persevere, dear friend; a bit of the old adventurous spirit teemed with the expert advice of the staff and you'll soon be thankful that you ignored that first cowardly impulse.
With our order finally decided upon, we wedged ourselves in at a long communal table. Leaf is designed with a confident nod to the kitsch trend although what must have been an overwhelming urge to adorn the walls with tea pots has been admirably ignored.
The diverse, seasonal menu, like the tea, has catered for those who gravitate towards the more exotic. Falafel and tzatziki features on the 'Nibbles Menu' while lamb tagine beckoned to me from the selection of mains. I opted for a fragrant pot of cherry blossom tea and the hearty chorizo and tomato stew served with focaccia to mop up the juices. With most of the lunch menu costing around three pounds, Leaf is just my cup of tea.Sophie Pryn
