Kelly's Dispensary

The luck o' the Irish will be with you in this traditional boozer.

Review

Kelly's is an Irish pub for the masses. Sure, if you're a student and you fancy an inexpensive drink minus the scabby cushions and ketchup-covered tables of most cheap chain pubs, pop your head in. The Guinness is £2.60 (and more importantly, it's decent), and more often than not your pint's pulled by a real-life Irishman who'll offer a cheeky grin and a fair helping of banter. There's your standard jukebox and pool table, and a cracking Open Mic on a Thursday night. Both students and locals mingle in the easy atmosphere and trad-décor – it's well worth a gander.

Great Guinness, and a nice bar with a good ambience...but NOT an Irish bar!!! Despite the reviewer being able to make up some BS yarn about the bar-tender which reads well, you'd do well to get an Irish staff member and the decor is simply rustic and not Irish. Also, don't expect any Gaelic games/provincial rugby coverage. Kelly's is a fine bar, but NOT an Irish bar! And for those looking for a better Irish bar experience, Shenanigans/Pogue's are best with O'Neills providing all the sports but more a plastic Paddy bar!
