G–Bar

This gay/mixed bar is also a very popular after–club venue. Really more of a mixed crowd than a gay venue, it's garish decor is an unmissable neon fantasy – literally – with coloured bubble tubes downstairs. Be warned, the subterranean club contains lots of people on heat, so if you're not feeling frisky you may wish to remain in the bar upstairs. G–Bar is open from Wednesday through to Sunday. Wednesday attracts a large gay crowd with Doreen Kum–Kwik playing very camp dance and disco classics. Thursday sees DJ Lavinia playing similarly up–lifting music – it's all pop and disco in here. Friday and Saturday is when it really kicks off though, as G–Bar turns into the most popular breakfast bar in the city with uplifting Dutch house and trance and hard house from some excellent local DJs. Definitely worth staying up for.
