The Famous Old Porterhouse

A cosy little pub in the town centre. Dive in here during the day to escape from the repetitive slaughtering of decent songs by the blokes on the band–stand with their electric guitars. It's got that homely glow that a good pub should have. Although it's pretty posh inside, with lots of polished wood and raised areas, it's not very big at all. They serve up a fair meal during the day, which is sure to warm your cockles before you leave. Last time I was here some middle–aged women were bartering aggressively over their pints with two young lads who were selling a selection of Boots finest goods still hot from the shelves –"D'ye norrav Apricot Dream?".
