Jacaranda
The Jacaranda is cheap, it's on Slater Street, but something ensures it's a cut above its neighbours. A very laid back and friendly atmosphere where sitting with complete strangers and striking up a conversation is the norm. Strangely charming décor consists of a hotchpotch of posters, memorabilia, murals – one of which was allegedly a joint effort between those un–known lads John Lennon and Stuart Sutcliffe –, wooden tables and chairs, a fruit machine which has been given it's own little stage, and narrow staircases leading to subterranean and first floor extensions. It's a fantastic bar to explore, and get very drunk in, and is one of the few places in Liverpool that's lively even during the week.
