Zanzibar

Not quite as exotic as it sounds but it does offer an alternative to Liverpool's mainstay of commercial bars and clubs. It's a small club / live music venue that, depending on the line up, varies from a bunch of moping vampires trying to find the inspiration for suicide to a rocking party for people who know how to find the new Liverpool talent. It's hard to pin down exactly what goes on here and when, because it changes every week. Hosting an alternating program of about nine different club nights and themes, the only way to know what's going on at Zanzibar is to leave it to lady luck and get your arse down there
