Open Eye Gallery
In this age of disabled access for everyone, it's curious that this photographic–based gallery is so inaccessible. We're not talking about its ease of access to those with a disability – there's a rather obvious and space–consuming wheelchair lift bolted to the outside. No, here you need to rely on luck to be let in. Often you will need to ring a bell to drag a member of staff from the back room in order to buzz you in, which lends a certain amount of tension to the undeniably passive act of walking around and looking intently at a load of pictures. Just suck up that pride and wallow.
