The Magnet
As slinkily sultry and saucily seductive as a telephone number ending in two 69s would suggest, The Magnet manages to be one of Liverpool's best cosy-but-cool venues without even trying. Functioning admirably well in all capacities - cafe, bar, gig venue and nightclub - it fuses more than a bad electrician. Like a hot fat-assed blonde, it's bigger downstairs than it is upstairs, so don't be fooled by the small shopfront appearance: this sexy beast hides some serious beats in its belly. Skimming off the cream of local live talent as well as hosting bigger names, it's a hot spot to throw your knickers at pretty bassists, then invite them for a slice of pie and a glass of fuzz-clearing fresh OJ the morning after. Club nights often have a heavily funky feel, though your head and feet are likely to feel surprisingly light, so you'll be free to flail them about in a most joyous fashion. Huzzah.
