Augustus John
Strangely characterless but exclusively populated by students, situated within the University of Liverpool's campus grounds. It's a bit tatty but it does do fantastic real ale on tap, with lots of different guest beers. It has the feel of an out-of-the-way motorway service station, and it doesn't do food apart from sandwiches, although there's clearly a kitchen. Very nice outside in the summer, if you don't mind the concrete university vistas.
