Flanagan's Apple
A lively place on the tourist trap that is Mathew Street. It manages to cater for all the pub-crawling monsters regularly passing through, yet still keeps its identity as a much-loved Irish pub. Most such bars are recent arrivistes, but this is the real deal; it's been around so long that its bare-boarded mustyness is genuine, rather than the result of an interior designer getting over eager with a piece of sandpaper. There's three floors of live music, revelry and arguments about Steve Staunton.
