The Ship and Mitre
The CAMRA Merseyside Pub of the Year for the last four years, featuring a comprehensive selection of (mostly German) imported draught ales and bottles that read like a Rammstein set-list. It has a peculiar stained glass skylight in the back room which lends the place a solemn air, matched by the fact that there is no music so that the congregation can worship their chosen beers in quiet contemplation. An ideal place to visit after a trawl around the nearby museum and Walker Gallery.
