The former Liverpool Academy may have given up the 'War of the Academies' last year, in favour of the Carling version, but they're still struggling to outgun their main rival in getting bands on. Despite being at the epicentre of student life, it isn't getting nearly as many big names and is being ridden roughshod over by the Carling like a minor celebrity being interviewed by Jonathan Ross. That said, there are still plenty of decent bands to be had here, although worryingly, there are far more tribute bands than is healthy (ie, they have them playing occasionally).
