Oomoo

If you're not afraid to venture out of the city centre in search of cake then Oomoo won't disappoint. Open until seven every day except Sunday, it's a haven of caffeine highs and sugar rushes, the perfect place for seeing mates or pretending to do work (we know you're actually on Facebook). Itchy was transported by a Spiced Chai Latte and Millionaire's Shortbread to a chocolate-dribbled-nirvana. All was well until we turned around to find a group of highly caffeinated, middle aged women with needles. 'Stitch and Bitch' knitting group meets every Wednesday afternoon. We're not sure there if there is anything more petrifying. Perhaps next time we'll go on a Thursday.

last time I checked, the majority of stitchers are under 35, then there are those in their 80's. The stitch and bitch group meets on a Tuesday early eve and has been the friendliest and most welcoming bunch of diverse people I could have hoped for. Any large group can be terrifying hence we're in the back room, but anyone can turn up and be taught to knit on the spot - we even keep spare yarn for newbies! Just ask. I object to middle-aged though, as would most of us, especially the younger students. There are also regular open mic nights, a range of events from jewellery to poetry and a monthly book group. It's part of the community.

Hi Sarah, We're very glad to hear that Oomoo has so much to offer, and we're sorry to have offended you. All our reviews are written with tongues firmly in cheeks, and we'd never argue with a knitter. NEVER.
